Who is MPA?
The Mississippi Poultry Association includes poultry processors and the nation's largest table egg company: poultry growers and allied companies who provide products and services to the other members. You can access those companies websites here and under the Links tab above.

Poultry's Impact

Poultry is Mississippi's largest agricultural commodity with $2.7 billion paid to farmers in 2013 and another $2.1 billion in wages and salaries paid to 28,000 employees. Another 27,000 jobs are created indirectly because of the industry. You can see economic impact data here and under the Media tab above.

MPA's History

Formed in 1937, the Mississippi Poultry Association is celebrating its 77th Anniversary in 2014. Click here or use the Events tab above to view the Anniversary page with pictures showing the growth of the industry, congratulatory letters and resolutions from elected officials, a video, and other items on how poultry grew from a barnyard sidelight into the states largest agricultural industry.

From the Farm to the World
Mississippi has about 1,900 poultry farms that produce 762 million birds per year that go to grocery stores, restaurants and are exported around the world. The United Nations estimates the world will need two-thirds more protein by 2050 because of increasing populations and incomes. Mississippi farms and plants are ready to supply that global demand.
